Come check out in Deer Trail Park’s latest adventure - Geocaching!

If you know what geocaching is and have done it before, you are sure to have a blast with our take on it. If you haven’t heard of geocaching, you are in for a treat.

We have two geocache adventures. One for the whole family and one for the advanced adventurer. Hidden across the park are 12 geocaches filled with goodies and, more importantly, coordinates to the next stash. Using a handheld GPS device or smartphone app, you will use the coordinates to locate all of the caches. We will give you the coordinates for the first geocache, then you will use the coordinates and clues hidden there to find the next one until you have located all 12. Collect one item from each cache, then bring those twelve items to the office for a free ice pop and certificate of completion.

The family adventure is scattered across our spacious park, leading you from one end of the park to the other. The advanced geocache experience will find you trekking across the mountain on meandering trails. Whatever your level of expertise, you’re sure to have a blast.

Some important notes about geocaching at Deer Trail Park:

 1) First geocache is open to public. Full 24 cache geocaching experience is for campers only. Camp to play!

2) Caches will never be located on campsites, so please don’t go on other people’s sites.

3) You will need your own handheld GPS or smartphone. We do not supply them.

4) Your smartphone must have GPS built in.

5) We recommend using the Map Coordinates app for Android, which you can find here, and Free GPS for IPhone, which you can find here.

6) The advanced course requires a handheld GPS and is not smartphone compatible.
